Happy National Independent Bookstore Day! I celebrated by buying a book from both of our West Seattle stores - Pegasus and Paper Boat. I now own a copy of the latest Emily Henry and Dungeon Crawler Carl. #independentbookstoreday

A reminder that if the government can send migrants to a prison camp without any due process, it can send U.S. citizens there, too. I know because this happened to me and my family in 1942.

I read Six of Crows, Crooked Kingdom, and One Dark Window all in one month - lots of dark stories which seems fitting. I also made an effort to read Black fiction - most notably a few by Denise Williams. My favorite though was First Time Caller - perhaps I’m biased for the Baltimore references.

Okay #Seattle voters, here’s something substantive you can do: Nathan Rouse & Rory O’Sullivan are running against Seattle City Attorney Ann Davison (a Republican who is doing jack shit for our interests). Read up & support the hell out of one of them. Volunteer for their campaigns! #vote

The Wedding People was a real standout - the best book I’ve read in a long time. The Wedding Season was surprisingly good too - on my TBR unread for years because of the Barbie-looking girl on the cover. #booksky #storygraph #readingstats

I’m finally reading Six of Crows. Every time a character’s age is mentioned it rips me right out of the story. How are there so many highly skilled 17 year olds in this world? My kids are only a few years younger and they and their friends could not pull off this Oceans 11 shit. #booksky
