On the avg reviewer, I completely agree. The system is on its knees and tons of journals won't survive if without alternatives to human (lazy or not) reviewers. Imho this transition will further deepen the divide between CNS and others, but there is still eLife model, which makes me hope

Yes, I agree with you on the perception of endorsement, to which @richardsever.bsky.social replied the other day, (paraphrasing 'we also link to 300 Elsevier journals which we do not implicitly endorse submitting to'), but it is a point for sure 1/2

I think I can do my reviewing/writing, so I won't be using it, but do not think it is harmful within bioRxiv. Where it will be an issue is in journals, as a sub for peer review, and we are going there on a speed boat(!) inevitably as a consequence of the chaos that engulfs the publishing system 2/2

I think you raise a good point, and imho, yes people should! The idea of putting an optional link to this tool in bioRxiv is to help authors who use or need these services to improve the structure of their manuscript. These authors who choose it, likely use AI to write the paper too... 1/2
