I'm continuing this test to see how many people this is pushed out to. This is one of two identical posts but one has a link and one doesn't.

If you see this first, please like or comment?

The daily urge I have to post this as a reply to the absolutely unhinged ridiculousness I see online.

Taylor Swift gets it.

Capital letters, costume changes, numerology, lyric callbacks...every Era, every Easter egg: her own secret code.

Details that thrill the observant, it’s a language for the digital age, and Swifties are fluent speakers.

What if Ophelia wasn’t losing her mind...what if she was dropping Easter eggs? 🌸

She covered the stage in metaphors, handed out coded insults, and drowned wrapped in her own symbolism.

Dismissed as mad, she spoke the only way her world allowed: poetry that bit back.

Stage 12 - Return with the Elixir (the hero(ine) returns from magical/tribulatory world to their home with all the knowledge/growth/rewards/happiness)
Album 12 - The Life of a Showgirl

What do you think? Any stage/album you see these connections on? What did I miss? Do we get an epilogue?

2AM tangential thoughts on the third listen (insomnia has an upside?)

The modern Hero's Journey has 12 stages.
#TaylorSwift now has 12 albums.

👀

But WHAT DOES IT MEAN? What if none of this is accidental‽ I offer this rabbit hole for fellow literary geeks...

Tortured Poets wasn’t an aside. It was the penultimate act.

The love letter before The Life of a Showgirl takes its bow, and whatever encore will follow.

I wrote more about TTPD for its 1yr anniversary on @Medium → elisadoucette.medium.com/what-i-learn...

It’s the kind of meta-analysis only possible while performing a three-hour show that drags you thru every era of your life as your current one spirals.

Past selves and tortured poet self, sitting in a tree. D-Y-I-N-G. A reckoning in real time.

You don’t call an album The Tortured Poets Department if you’re aiming for subtlety.

Taylor Swift didn’t. She gave us Gothic performance art: dramatic, excessive, confessional. Vaults cracked open, and a body of work that refused to stay buried.

And then there’s the chaos.

Snail jousts. Sword-fighting rabbits. Cats waging war on mice. Whatever the guy in this image is "collecting."

Medieval margins weren’t always wise, sometimes they were weird little rebellions tucked between the lines..

Absurd, joyful, and completely unnecessary.

Writers did this too: Plath. Twain. Newton. Voltaire. DFW. They didn’t just read books, they conversed w them.

C.S. Lewis called it his “funny little reading-hobby.” Poe wrote a regular column called "Marginalia."

Maps, timelines, arrows, headlines, indexes...scribbled in like a second author.

Your books are too clean. It’s a problem.

Margins are made for mutiny...and history agrees. 📚✍️

In 2009, I drew a childlike family portrait for my mum’s office. My stick figure? She was wearing a dress.

With no fabric below the midriff. 🤦‍♀️

“Geez Elisa, put some pants on.”

In 1940, a dog named Robot fell in a hole.

Four teenage boys followed, but they didn’t find treasure. They found a 17,000-year-old masterpiece gallery.

Because of course they did.
