😎 Most days I'm an editor. Some days I get around to writing as well.

Elisa is one of those people...she seems like the person you call at 3AM after you accidentally murdered someone, and she'd just be like "Ok, I know a guy. I'll be there in 40 minutes. No judgement. No questions. We got this."
If you’re trying to write a personal piece and keep getting stuck, ask yourself: "What am I afraid people will think if they read this?"

Then, write it anyway. At least you know the devil's name now.

My favorite writer aesthetic is "Exhausted Archaeologist." Covered in the dust of old drafts, brushing away the debris to find one gleaming sentence buried deep in the mess. Obviously wearing slutty little glasses. Obviously.

The moment a stubborn idea finally unlocks feels less like a lightbulb and more like a bone-deep, full-body click.

"No one cares, why would you post this?"

Oh, baby doll. You care. You cared SO MUCH that it got you all up in your fee-fees to come here and comment. I didn't even know you cared; it's actually romantic how you are dropping these little love notes.

If you must write a listicle, at least make it weird.

The real first draft isn't the one you write on the page. It's the one you wrote in your head while walking through a forest, taking a shower, or tossing-and-turning trying to fall asleep.

The quiet joy of re-reading your own work and realizing it’s...not terrible. Not done, not perfect, but actually alive.

I'm not saying we should hiss at our editors (please don't hiss at me!), but what if we allowed our first drafts to be that primal? All guttural sound and instinct, before grammar police show up to shut the place down.

You don’t master writing by finishing more pieces. You master it by finishing one piece so *chef's kiss BEAUTIFULLY* it rewires how you write everything after.

I don’t want your writing advice unless it’s annotated with fancy (glitter?) pens, based on actual human capacity, and loosely informed by a 2AM conversation with your cat.

The best part of writing is when your brain is a mess, your doc is a disaster, and suddenly a single line appears like, “Hey, I’m the one. Build it around me.”

Yes, I write in a notebook. No, it’s not for productivity. It’s because I like feeling like a mysterious Victorian spinster with secrets and ink-stained fingers.

Counterpoint to "write what you know" ... try writing what you're desperate to understand.

Imagine if writers got mic’d up like NFL players? “We’re staring down a blank page. She’s reaching for her fourth iced coffee. No outline in sight. It's a bold strategy, let's see how it plays out.”

The creative hangover is real. After 3 weeks sprinting at completely overhauling a course AND THEN deciding to launch it right after...my brain is empty, the emotions are raw, and all I can do is stare into space sucking on my coffee and hoping to recharge.

I'm continuing this test to see how many people this is pushed out to. This is one of two identical posts but one has a link and one doesn't.

If you see this first, please like or comment?

If your writing feels dry, maybe it’s because you’re writing for attention instead of obsession?

Maybe you don’t need another free checklist? Maybe you just need 30 minutes a day and a pen that glides like a dream (I will die on the G2 07 hill. Don't @ me.)

Almost every writer I know wants to learn how to "be better." But few are willing to do The Deep Read — the one with a pen in hand, highlighter smudges on your face, muttering 'you brilliant son of a gun' under your breath.
