🐘🗝️🍋abolitionist. former public defender, legislator. forever afol. NC-VA-CO.🇸🇩🇨🇺🇵🇸
14 year anniversary of that time I won NFG at jury trial, securing acquittal in 9 minutes, and the judge proceeded to criticize me on the record.

for years I saw it as kinda funny. as I’ve matured, I see that old yt man made sure to publicly try and put me—a [then young] Black woman—in my place.

📚 reasons to pre-order books:
— support authors we believe in
— ⊥ worker-run collectives
— be confused when unexpected package arrives months later

I bought “Read This When Things Fall Apart” 5/17/25. fast-forward to October 2025…

📫 what a lovely surprise!

what is going on over at IsDickCheneyDead.com?

surely I’m not the only one who expected an update…

It wasn’t my ONLY (nor first) answer, not even when you flex in all caps.

Next time, before you double down on your tone policing of Black women, do at least scroll the skyline to see if your accusation is even meritorious (it isn’t) instead of outing yourself as both dishonest and impertinent, Jo.

maybe it’s just me but maybe recheck the link from here to Spotify?

I bought the album and was also able to find it in Spotify, but for me every link here works *except* Spotify.

* 9/1/25 = deadline for sending, not receipt date, right?😇

I sent 108 books from me and @cofreedomfund.bsky.social in 4 big boxes to Bluestockings; alas with only affordable shipping rate they will arrive after Sept. 1.

I included cards noting them as being for PC’s 2025 Summer Book Drive. thanks!

great question! I wish I knew. to me it looks like a dog sitting on its haunches, tail upturned, tongue out. it’s hella solid, unexpectedly heavy. maybe a statuette made from metal scraps from a blacksmith’s shop?

most do, indeed.

the rest of us have Roger Peet’s “Laws Aren’t Rule” art in our law offices.

photos are off in a box somewhere, but a couple of his books are still right here on my shelves. I hadn’t looked at these in years. I’d asked Glenn to sign in addition to her dad. she was super patient and kind, even as she kept the focus on him. thx for prompting the trip down memory lane fam!😂

wait! finally, a mention of Sudan—

= at last a break in the heretofore unbroken Z. Kwame celebration.😉

and not a single word of racist, Islamophobic, antisemitic fear-mongering in the election coverage on the skyline. Hope things are likewise on the hellsjte.

Laughing bc I can’t find anything being said about anything else…

meanwhile, 100% of the posts above and below yours are in direct opposition to the proposition “no one here is celebrating.” 😂

Jay Wesley Johnson is a dancer in that video. When we were both in college in Durham, I paid a $300 parking ticket for him and he never paid me back.

I get angry all over again when I hear the opening bars.

this the culprit:

@officialblee.bsky.social they’re violent little bastards, too. I broke a molar crown clean off last Friday, eating some damn skittles. they’d been included in a Marshawn Lynch-themed welcome gift.

emergency dentist appt. lied to my dentist and said I didn’t know what caused it the break.😭

🎓I carried my 4 month old child in my arms as I received my diploma. feeling retroactively fortunate that my school didn’t sic cops on me for holding an infant while I graduated high school.

given all the fine dunkers in recent decades I refuse to believe that your selection of a Vince reference is random—not given the historical and hued relationship between Carolina and Columbia. well done, Sir.

⚖️ curious that any law firm would still feature DEI on their website after revealing that their actual core values align with fascist repression.

I was so critical and skeptical of those “bipartisan reforms” that felt like more window dressing. I kept saying it won’t help, but I hoped I’d be wrong.

apparently I ran an amendment to insert a repeal clause—but then voted no? if this record is right?🤷🏽‍♀️ s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/leg.colorado...

love that one! it often appeared in my background of virtual meetings when I was a legislator.
January 19, 2025 at 7:26 PM
yup. if it weren’t illegal to take photos of virtual court I would’ve.
alas, I obviously did not take any pics of me and my laptop showing me in Webex clearly calling in from an airplane seat into Weld County district court.😇

(got just me tho, in the blazer I raced to yank down out of a carryon!)

13 years ago, today. baby PD. what a time.

to their credit, they stopped thinking I was a “defendant.” I don’t think they ever mistook me for being the accused again (not even when I actually was the defendant😂).

instead, they assumed I was “defendant”’s mom or girlfriend. not his lawyer, tho.🫠
