Why not? You could try during the first session and have people vote about whether to continue? But there need to be room for it in the program...

At our last institute seminar they gave us a few minutes after each presentation to chat with our neighbour about the talk and potential questions before one could ask questions to the presenter -sort of like "think, pair, share" if you know that from teaching. I found that very useful!
