For over 150 years, trans people have used courts to change legal sex. While writing Before Gender, I found what may be the first case in the US: a formerly enslaved trans woman in Georgia in 1869. Her story shows that trans people found legal support long before the word transgender even existed.

If you don't already agree that there's a moral panic over transgender care, just read the New York Times' articles on hormone therapy for cis people and compare them to their hit pieces on the hormone therapy for trans people.

One of Epstein's victims was a trans teen, but nobody paid attention because she was trans & Latina. The Post + Times of Israel even ran hit pieces on her!

Epstein's lawyer claimed he wasn't gay, so Ava must have lied. He could've been stopped sooner if society listened to POC, trans folks or girls

They hate it because it's true.

Seems fair?

Like clockwork: as soon as celebrities start denouncing trans people, they’re found on the Epstein list. Gladwell, Musk, and Trump also come to mind. Funny how powerful people who deny trans bodily autonomy consistently hang out with child traffickers (it’s not funny).

The Los Guilucos riot was national news, but only one local paper covered the gay conflicts that led to the uprising. Even disapprovingly discussing queerness was met with steep criticism. Several smaller riots and protests broke out at the home over the following days.

Rioters wielded clubs of loose lumber, while others smashed the vending machine to get soda. They broke into the maximum security wing, releasing its captives. Over 20 girls even made a break for freedom. The first riot lasted 4 hours, and the escapees were captured later that evening.

The rebellion began a few hours after two "daddies" were sent to another facility for conversion therapy. The two were what we might now term butch lesbians, nonbinary, or trans men. The girls threw chairs, shattered windows, and smashed dishes throughout the night in protest.

🧵 When was the first queer riot in the US? Historian Denny Nevins argues it was in the Los Guilucos School for Girls in 1953. On March 19th, dozens rioted against the juvenile detention home. Over 1/3 of the girls, aged 11-17, were queer. Many were there *because* they were queer.

If Democrats were actually on our side, they would be fighting to *expand* SNAP right now, not "compromise" with it.

“They’re turning the rats transgender!” Yes, and we have been for nearly a century! The UK paid researchers over $1 million (in today’s value) to produce hormones on a mass scale. These experiments helped trans people, including minors, obtain safe & effective hormones in the 1930s.

Police have been using the Sniffies app to entrap queer men, bringing back Stonewall-era tactics for mass arrests at cruising sites and bars. They also turned in 20 migrants during the entrapment operation, many of whom could be sent to their deaths in their home countries.

Curious what top surgery looked like in the 1930s? Surprisingly similar to today.
I found this photo in medical archives holding the English edition of the Plastic Surgery Atlas, v. 3. It shows an intersex man who underwent a double mastectomy nearly a century ago.

Mamdani hasn't been elected yet, but he's already making NYC a safer place
November 4, 2025 at 7:15 PM
If you or your loved ones are in NYC, don't forget to vote for Zohran Mamdani on the Working Families Party line today! This helps their progressive platform gain traction, and all votes go toward the next mayor.

Posts about DIY hormones help everyone from minors in Texas to trans adults in Florida on Medicaid know that you can rely on your community for support. I prefer strategy to respectability.

I'm loud about hormone sharing because nobody relies on me for them (+I'm a protected white trans woman in NYC). The more people who know it's possible, the less control the state has over our bodies. Pundits will criticize my methods, inadvertently publicizing transition resources to those in need
November 3, 2025 at 3:35 PM
Anyone can order twice their regular dose of hormones and give the rest out to people in need. It's a fun (alleged) activity for trans events. And you definitely shouldn’t search the DIY HRT site to learn how to obtain and use hormones in states/regions where they’re banned 😉

The right-wing mind cannot comprehend butch trans women, apparently

Remember to check your kids’ Halloween candy carefully this year! I just found 80mg of estradiol in this KitKat bar. Stay safe out there.

In zoology, there's a concept called "carcinization," which describes the evolutionary tendency for animals to develop crab-like bodies over time.
