A new species of #snake for me yesterday at Heliconias Rainforest #CostaRica.

The Side-striped Palm Pit Viper (Bothriechis lateralis) usually stays up higher in the canopy and at higher elevations, but maybe the windy weather brought it down low. So beautiful.

Sadly I missed the best of the show, just catching the tail-end, which was still pretty!

Driving south along I-15 in rural Utah, gorgeous snowcapped mountains border the left side of the frame as well as dominating the center, further in the distance. The northbound lanes on the left are quite traffic-filled while the road ahead for me is pretty clear save for one distant car. The sun is bright in a deep blue sky with occasional puffy white clouds Under a deep blue sky with a few small, white clouds, snowcapped mountains dominate the frame, with their chilly but gradually warming foothills giving way to slowly more lush shades of green. Farm-yellow grasses are closer to the foreground A two-lane road gently curves from center to left under a late afternoon Utah sky. Distant mesas tower over the landscape which is otherwise a brown, scrubby plain. The sky is clear but for contrails of passing aircraft On an empty two lane road in late-afternoon light a towering, breathtaking mesa takes up the middle of the frame past the road's vanishing point. It holds more shades of brown than you knew existed. A hill on the immediate left side of this road lays in the shadow of something much taller just out of frame
