Because... I didn't really say what I was arguing. I said I find the article misleading and the physics misapplied—but now that I think about it "incomplete" might be a better word. I only quote tweeted because I think the article is a bit clickbaity for an incomplete framing of bicycle physics.

I've seen this article before and find it misleading idk. We don't know the physics of a bicycle by itself, that's true. But a bicycle isn't functional by itself. It's functionally a kind of prosthetic. We don't think of bicycles that way because we associate prostheses with loss of a limb.

The reason this works for me is that seeing all the steps of a task is less intimidating. It's like open shelving for tasks. If it's just five steps, nothing is hidden, then oh I can handle that.

I've been thinking of posting this forever and keep forgetting lol. I don't know anyone else who does chores like this, but this is how I have to do them. I can't pretend ten steps are one task. My brain knows better.

Whenever I read something a physicist has written about time, I think, "Ok but what you really mean is a specific measurement." Because time is just another thing we measure. Like volume. Or love. Or bone density.
The real head explodey stuff is what if there is something else besides measurement.

It's just really striking to me that humans can ONLY measure things. Like that's what we do. We can't really conceive of another way of existing except by measure.
But does that mean the universe exists only by measure?
