Also new: the late ICE's 318 & 319 will now run all year round on all days of the week

Tickets for the new timetable period are now available at DB. Also the new ICE Antwerpen-Köln with stops in Brussels Airport, Leuven and Liège is now available. It starts running from the 7th of September and I might have made the timetable for it 😉

Something special in the sidings in Leuven 🇧🇪: a Siemens high speed train destined for Egypt 🇪🇬. It currently is in Belgium for test rides (under 25 kV I heard)

In Schaarbeek, old, current and future rolling stock (the new SNCB class 17 locomotive!) were standing next to each other

Some pictures from the ICRm goodbye ride last weekend! After decades of service, they now retire and came one last time in Belgium.

Some extensive tests for ICE BR408 in double set usage seem to currently be ongoing in Belgium 🇧🇪, like tonight in Leuven.

And that, my friends, is how you travel from Belgium to Italy, via Spain ✅
June 4, 2025 at 6:27 PM
And onto the final train, towards Leuven!
June 4, 2025 at 6:27 PM
Back in Belgium!
June 4, 2025 at 6:27 PM
Time to head home, for real now!

And after some more waiting in the hotel lobby because they couldn't find the reservation, I was finally able to rest a bit in my free room for the night!
May 31, 2025 at 11:37 AM
And then this is where my journey ended that day: Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof!
May 31, 2025 at 11:37 AM
Stamps were made, hotel vouchers were issued...
May 31, 2025 at 11:37 AM
A short detour via Frankfurt airport, to claim my hotel for the night. I hoped to get a hotel here, but sadly they gave me one next to the main station.

In any case no queuing here, and it's so much calmer than the main station to speak to station staff

A meal tastes better when you know it's free due to passenger rights
May 31, 2025 at 11:37 AM
... to change onto an ICE to Frankfurt.
May 31, 2025 at 11:37 AM
In Stuttgart I got off...
May 31, 2025 at 11:37 AM
So with even more delay, I continued on EC216

So my friends of DB Sicherheit came to the rescue with the biggest wire cutter they could find.

And because they were not too keen on doing it themselves, I cut the cable of the RailJet (with permission of the train staff) myself, which got me some confused looks from passengers entering the train

So this was my train going to the yard, with my bag still in it.

In about 30 minutes the train would return to another platform...
May 20, 2025 at 6:38 PM
... but on top of that I used the bag lock functionality of those new RailJets.

Only for it to not accept my code anymore when wanting to unlock it.

The train staff has a master card to unlock it. But that card was apparently missing from the train... 😱

But then we arrived in Munich Hbf, and the adventure was about to start for real.

I already knew I wasn't getting home today anymore, too much delay...
May 20, 2025 at 6:38 PM
Some cool views from the train
May 20, 2025 at 6:38 PM
Those trains are very nice though!
