AI is biased in many ways. The names for the various iterations are as well.
someone pointed out that as soon as they wanted us to use these things as an expert instead of a personal assistant they switched from giving them female names to male names and I can't unsee it.

A reminder for all of us this week: Many of those yelling the loudest on any give day are just looking for attention and love. Let's all try listening more.

You are a beloved child of God now and always. So is that person being yelled at. And the one doing the yelling.

Was once again reminded today that not everyone has heard that they are Beloved children of God. I'm here to tell you or to remind you:

You are Beloved. You are Enough. You are Cherished. You are Worthy.

Yes, you.

Not because of anything you have done or will do. Just because you are.

This is disgusting. Tarrant County already has very low voter turnout, and this will make it even lower. So for my friends in Tarrant County, please be sure you exercise your right to vote in EVERY election. People not caring about local and midterm elections is what brought us this mess.

Spoiler free image of me after the season finale of The Gilded Age. (And I’m not even sure who I’m exactly mad at. Other than Julian Fellowes. And HBO because it’ll probably be two or three years before we get more.)

"Women are the kind of people that people come out of."
Reposted and endorsed by our Sec.of Defense. Calling for women to lose the right to vote.
I will keep asking “What would the world look like if women and girls were seen as children of God with sacred worth?” & working to answer that question.

Anyone else Google “perimenopause rage” today or is it just me?

Me at the end of tonight’s The Gilded Age. My daughter emerged from her bedroom to see why I screamed.

A few years ago, I started noticing people calling sweatshirts “sweaters.” The new thing is calling tortillas “burrito shells” or “tortilla shells.” As if we didn’t have enough going on in the world!

The Gilded Age really has me out here rooting for a robber baron.

Curious what other UMC people think. I don’t like the new mission. It feels like it doesn’t push enough. It could be inward focused. I miss the “transformation of the world” part. Where is working for justice? Where is resisting evil and oppression? This is lukewarm.

What do Saved By the Bell, The Santa Clause, and Fred Rogers all have in common?

They are all part of my sermon tomorrow.

Alt: Scene from 90s TV show Saved by the Bell: Two teenage boys, Zach Morris (blonde) and AC Slater (brunette) stand in a high school with their principal Mr Belding. Zach turns to the camera, makes the T sign with his hands and says “Time Out” while the other two freeze.

48% of Texas births are to patients on Medicaid. If they actually cared about babies and pregnancy, they would not move this funding to religious-run anti-abortion programs that deal in lies and manipulation.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but menstrual bleeding for 20+ days is not “normal” or “fine” no matter how old the patient is or how recently they reached menarche.

Guess it’s that time of year again since I’m seeing Christian clergy ask.
No, do not have a Seder on Maundy Thursday. Do not try to add Passover elements to your Communion service.
Jesus was Jewish, but we are not. And we’ve been asked over and over not to do this. 1/3

Was just at the grocery store, and heard a mom yell out “Come over here right now, Little Miss Difficult!” I almost went over. Because as an adult, who does often stir up some trouble, I’d be proud for that to be my name. But for a young girl to be labeled “Difficult” breaks my heart. Words matter.

Maybe there needs to be a mercy rule in NCAA basketball.

Why yes, I did just watch Texas vs William & Mary and LSU vs San Diego State games.

Just realized I didn’t share my Feb. reads here.

And Then There Were None - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I’ve never read an Agatha Christie mystery before and wanted to try one. I enjoyed it even though it wasn’t what I expected. Pretty dark and strange. I can see how her work influenced lots of other mysteries.

If you need something to listen to this Women's History Month (or any time), might I suggest a playlist I made last year that's all female composers.

So many, "I didn't know So-and-So was Catholic" takes today. Catholics aren't the only ones who observe Lent and Ash Wednesday. This United Methodist pastor has attended multiple Zooms today with ashes on her forehead. Feel free to ask us about it! That's always better than making assumptions.
