You just have to see how painfully long it was before so-called political commentators seemed to realise that the
LibDems were the third largest party in Westminster, and not even by much- months. It’s as though a spell been cast over them.

I guess it’s up to us alone to fight the rise of the authoritarian far-right then, if political commentators prefer to showcase them.

I don’t believe that all reform supporters are racist, it’s just not the deal breaker for them that it is for others- and of course by ignoring or accepting that racism, they are helping drive it.

I think people always have the capacity of turning on each other- it takes a particular kind of operator to stir them up and get them focused on blaming each other for the problems rather than the actual perpetrators.

I think people are living unbelievably stressful lives with many services gone and housing unaffordable, and they become easy targets for far right populist stirrers.

These views are being comforted by people who really ought to do better, and not join the bigotry.
If people in power were tackling the *causes* of people’s dissatisfaction, a lot of this would not be happening.
