Recent re-transplant to Victoria, BC. Amateur photog, beginner astrophotog, and aspiring hermit (so long as there's internet).

The world might be on fire, but I can take pictures of the bits that are still beautiful.

Camera: Sony 7A iv
Scope: Seestar S50
The Horsehead and Flame nebulae.

It's funny how my initial processing never turns out well, but when I come back to it after a few hours, the results are much better. #seestar #astrophotography

Halloween is coming up, how about some magic?

The Wizard Nebula. 7200 light-years away, completely invisible to the naked eye. This is what 2 hours with scattered clouds got me last night.

I'll need at least a full night's imaging when the weather cooperates in order to bring out more detail.

The Heart Nebula, from a mildly cloudy evening in Bortle 6. Taken with the #SeestarS50

#AndromedaGalaxy - 2029 10s, 20s and 30s subs, hours in #Siril, edited in #SetiAstro, touched up in Lightroom.

Finally got some resolution on the dust lanes. I'll have to find a lower Bortle area and set it up for better resolution. Don't think the lower exposure times are helping at this point.

Pleiades, or the Seven Sisters.

Taken last night in Bortle 6 with the #SeestarS50. Stacked the mosaic in Siril, processed in Seti Astro, touched up a bit in Lightroom.

It was finally clear all night, so I put the #Seestar and battery pack on the roof and went to bed. Woke up to a very dead battery, and the best #Andromeda Galaxy shot I've taken to date!

Took a trip out to the #Victoria #ButterflyGardens the other day. Definitely a place worth visiting again!

First attempt at capturing the #DumbbellNebula from my apartment patio in #VictoriaBC. I'd love to have spent more time on it, but this stupid "staying employed" thing keeps getting in the way of my late night activities.

Ventured to #CattlePoint Dark Sky Preserve in #VictoriaBC. Not bad for being inside the city and only a Bortle 4.

Last night's trip to #OgdenPoint in #VictoriaBC allowed me to experiment with exposure bracketing, a great way to bring out extra details in a photo with tricky lighting.

Lucky to live in #Victoria where I can visit #HatleyCastle where #Deadpool, #X-Men and many more movies were filmed.

One more shot of the moon from Vancouver before I leave a Bortle 9 area and head to a 6 (with a 2-3 a short drive away)
August 8, 2025 at 7:44 PM
I really should be packing, but a break between boxes isn't a bad idea.

A few more days until I leave #Vancouver, so here a heron from Stanley Park, the moon, and the city view from Cypress lookout.

The #moon was low and dark in the #vancouver sky yesterday, making it a bit hard to capture with the #seestar, but 10 minutes of stacked video produced a pretty nice result!
