Apparently, it’s black cat appreciation day today!

Here are two of my overlords

Yoru (wearing the leash) is a feisty 14 year old male who is battling cancer

Miu (short for Mjolnir) is a giant 2 year old male who prefers quiet

Both are rescues 🥰 The cat distribution system has been kind to us

I think it’s the utter despair that makes the depression I feel different from regular sadness

It’s like the scene in The Neverending Story where Atreyu tries to help Artax out of the Swamps of Sadness

But the swamp is too deep, and the mud gets everywhere, and Artax just can’t summon the strength

I took this photo in Asakusa

I’m always amazed that Sensou-ji manages to conduct regular services as a working church with those hordes of crazy tourists roaming their grounds all the time

Though, the chaos does make moments of beauty, like this, all the more precious

Sometimes I need a comforting project where I don't need to think too much about what I'm doing

Lately, granny stitch projects have been filling that need for me

I just finished this rectangular granny stitch throw and I love it!

My new comfort project is a wrap made of triple crochet seed stitch

I played yarn chicken and won!

It’s always the little things, isn’t it? 🥰

(The yarn is Järbo Cookie in the Candy colorway. The project is a crochet granny stitch moebius cowl)

I took this photo the last time I was in Tokyo.

I really love osmanthus (金木犀/kinmokusei in Japanese). It blooms twice a year, Spring and Fall, and has a beautiful, sweet scent that lingers in the air.

The dried flowers also make a yummy, honeyed apricot-y tisane. I add them to other teas

Just a close up of a crochet WIP: a moebius infinity granny stitch cowl in Järbo’s Cookie, Candy colorway

Because soft yarn and pretty colors make things better… for a little while at least

Found this in other peoples’ feeds and agreed, but there was no alt text so I added some 😊

(Sadly, traditional illiteracy is still a huge problem on top of this one)

I took this picture at the Seimei Jinja in Kyoto. It was built in 1007 to honor Abe no Seimei. It’s not a popular site, but I’m a sucker for anything onmyouji related and I love the sense of peace I feel in ancient places
