There's a very misogynistic bent to it too. Changing "pregnant people" to women implies it can work the other way around too, that women are basically wombs on legs. It's also in the way they ignore that children get pregnant too, immediately adultifying girls as "women" once pregnant.

And because the trans people who get pregnant are trans *men* not women (or non-binary ppl or intersex, etc). Or a child. And also, not every woman is pregnant! But most of all, because she was supposedly quoting, so any editorialising is inappropriate even if the quote was as bland as "I like jam."
