So, some practice drawing.
Started on this one early this morning as a study piece from a sketch from a particular book. I tried to clean it up and fill out some details that the original didn't have.

Anyway, guess the character? 😏

I sketched up something with a bit more to it; Some cowboy person (don't ask for details, I was winging it).

Started with a rough sketch and then did a lineart layer. Had to mess with the hat a lot to get it reasonable. Proportions aren't quite right, but good enough.

So I got a tablet today and tried it out.

There's my first scribble. Not too bad for me, trying to get used to it. 🤷

Not amazing looking, but this would had been impossible for me to do with a mouse.

So I wrapped up the demo for this last night. It's a pretty hefty demo that covers all of the prologue, which is all of the Rolent area. Spent 11 hours on this.

Overall, I enjoyed it. Especially once I understood the combat. It looks to be a solid, quality remake.

After spending some time trying out the AT system on my own, I think I have the general hang of it now. It's still a tad clunky, but I can use it fine now.

I'm going to chalk this up to a case of having a very awkward tutorial that messes up the flow of battle.

Like, I get this is part of the tutorial, but I don't get how this turn system is supposed to work when the RT system works so smoothly. Why have two different systems? They kind of clash with one another.

Like some fights start with the RT system, and then others dump me into the Turn system. 🤨

Combat is... I'm not sure what to think yet. I like the real-time fighting part of it. It makes me think of the Mana games a bit. 😀

Then there's this pseudo-turn-based system also... that I'm not really liking. It feels over-complicated compared to the RT system. 🤔

I like the general look and feel of the game overall. It's smooth, looks nice, and has a few nice QoL features.
The dialogue indicator is especially nice (something more games need).

The intro is still rather long-winded as the OG. It's like over an hour before you get to combat gameplay. Ugh.

First off, pretty robust options. Far more than I expected.

It was doing so good up until that FOV slider.

Okay, this is a pet peeve of mine. Developers, if you are going to have an FOV option, it needs to show the viewing angle. Is this 90? Is this 75? I have no idea what this means.

(Just getting that shotgun rendered and lined up with the sprite, and I'll have to go through this many times.)

Bit of a progress update.
Despite me feeling so tired the past few days, I'm still getting some progress made each day. I'd estimate I'm roughly 70-75% through Chapter 2.
The last scene will probably take the most time to do as it's a complex one.

I passed the 100 download mark on itch.io yesterday for my game. Thanks to all who have shown interest and given my small game a look (and sole five-star rating!).

Work continues on Chapter 2, and I'm close to being done with the second scene.

Well, I finished up Ghost Stories. (The DUB)

What was likely a very mediocre show is elevated to cult status through its insane dub.

Reminds me a lot of when dubbed anime used to contain outtakes (Anybody remember those? The Berserk ones are classic)

Ok, so I got some hosting for the Beta demo. I'll be providing the links later... today?

In the meantime, here's another screen. It's a pretty life-altering choice for the protagonist, Eve. It's not without its trade-off, though.

Hello world, as they say in the programming space.

I am working on a mature visual novel game, The Mask of Eve.

Here is the title screen, so you know it's real. The first chapter is done; I just have to figure out where to host it. (itch.io is not an option anymore, sadly)
