What if some people suggested, "Hey, maybe we don't need such easy access to something designed exclusively to maim and kill." But the other people shouted back, "We have a right to poison! Hands off my chemical weapons!"

That would be really weird.

What if poison gas deaths became the number one killer of children in our country, and yet, we didn't question that? What if people at schools and churches and movie theaters and clubs and concerts were exposed to ricin and sarin gas and we shrugged?

And what if, as poison gas and the means to dispense it became more and more powerful, the protections for owning it and carrying it and using it became more and more entrenched?

What if people kept poison gas in their homes and proudly displayed their collections? "Look, here's my vintage WWI mustard gas," we'd say.

What if we then formed the National Poison Association, and had poison conventions and poison fairs, and stores that exclusively sold poison?
