I discovered both earlier today before your post and have not read them yet, but the use of "liquidation" in this context was unknown to me. A business or property liquidation came to mind but certainly cannot apply here... and do not as explained here:

Perhaps it was a fake, @normornstein.bsky.social, but the very fact that it seemed possibly authentic *is* the definition of Trumpian sanity: saying stupid implausible crap, over and over, and getting the *same* reaction: "They're insane!"

PS: or just "A new tactic" per the NY Times...

Yes, "the House" can even write a special rule to override the 2/3rd supermajority needed normally to suspend the rules on a given bill... but it sure seems like the rules in the 119th give the Speaker the power to stop *any* bill from being considered.

PS: Guess who died 100 years ago tomorrow...

Per @ringwiss, Johnson eliminated the automatic Discharge Calendar on the 2nd and 4th Mon. of each month as a condition to return as Speaker in Jan 2025... 🤬
November 11, 2025 at 1:12 PM
That's what I was wondering but did not have the willpower to check the rulebook.

Qs: Does this mean that Johnson could actually block *any* discharge petition indefinitely? If there were two or more w/218, could he pick and choose with impunity?? Is there no recourse for a large majority???

Is there not an automatic Discharge Calendar scheduled on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month?
November 11, 2025 at 5:01 AM
💯🤞😠✊... and we'll see if Jack Smith is able to testify in public.

First, let's watch Johnson try to impede the discharge petition over the Epstein files. If not mistaken, that would mean privileged action on Monday, 11/24...

... but could Johnson send everyone home before?
