Nobody would have predicted this, ten years ago...

Thank you, @jamiedupree.bsky.social et al, for reporting the reality of this moment.
5 years ago today on Jan. 5, 2021, two Trump allies took fake elector documents to Capitol Hill, giving them to aides for Rep. Mike Kelly R-PA. Those aides tried to get the papers to Vice President Pence. It was all part of the plot to keep Trump in power.

This is not surprising as much as totally dissonant and deeply disturbing when compared to the Robert Court as currently constituted and the unconstitutional behavior they have sanctioned...

... but then again, Coolidge was followed by Hoover and the Great Depression.

Agreed but for these two rhetorical/historical conjectures:

- The absence/removal/disappearance of King George III would not have been consequential...

- The Declaration of Independence was a claim of separation and not reunification...

The indictment against Maduro is about cocaine. If we had an honest White House Press Corps, every press interview Trump did would start with why he pardoned a narco terrorist president who imported 400 tons of cocaine into the United States.

Nope, Trump's invasion/regime change/occupation of Venezuela isn't an extension of the Monroe Doctrine. That's just a bull crap rationale. This is straight up imperialism. They can sugar coat it all they want but we're not falling for it.

DJT's military action and regime change in Venezuela is very dubious and unauthorized.

It is also an offer to Putin looking for a deal with the abandonment of Ukraine in trade.

It's ultimately a diversion... especially re Epstein.

OTD in 1863, James Gordon Bennett's New York Herald had this to say about Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation, which was to take effect that day. Bennett espouses a kind of popularism, worrying that Lincoln might have gotten dangerously ahead of public opinion and might enrage the Confederacy.

The share of counties where 95% or more of kindergartners were vaccinated against measles has dropped from 50% before the pandemic to 28%, according to our analysis of public records from 44 states and the District of Columbia. At least 19,000 schools are now more vulnerable to outbreaks.
