NEW REPORT: We reveal how NHS continuing health care (CHC) is failing to reach some of the most unwell patients in England in their time of need, while reinforcing deep regional inequalities.

The research is part-funded by @nuffieldfoundation.org

Read the report 👇
All or nothing? Access and variation in NHS continuing health care
NHS continuing health care provides funded health and social care support for people with very complex needs outside hospital. Yet our comprehensive new report shows this system is highly inconsistent...

@crosscountry.bsky.social
Hello Cross Country, I'm standing with lots of others, young and old on the Plymouth train (12.11 from Leeds, I think it set off from Newcastle). I realise it's half term, but surely you do too?
Not really good enough to pay for a seat and not get one.

Amazing work @shelaghor.bsky.social ! So disappointed not to have seen you!
Today I had a great day immersed in all things frailty hospital at home! Started at #bgsconf and then hot footed it to Houses of Parliament to show a crowd of MPs all the kit needed to provide hospital level care at home! @ukhahsoc.bsky.social @gerisoc

Can't believe I'm not there in person to see and hear George, Rebecca and Joanna speak about their fabulous work!
Hearing from the Seacroft care coordinators Joanna and Rebecca how they have embedded themselves in their local community
When working in Tower Hamlets the care navigators I worked with were worth their weight in gold in supporting patients
We need them everywhere to support people at home

Applicable to many NHS trusts up and down the country!
Picard management tip: If you're on red alert every day, then red alert means nothing.

Gutted not to be there in person 😢
Looking forward to #BGSConf tomorrow, and catching up with some old friends. Disappointed though to see how many references to 'the elderly' there are in the posters. Have we really not moved on? Surely @gerisoc.bsky.social is in a position to help stop such 'othering' ageist language?

So why is this not all over the front pages and main story on the news outlets instead of billionaire farmers fighting against paying tax 🤬🤬🤬they then wonder why the ordinary person is completely appalled by politicians priorities & their lack lustre actions
This #poverty is the most fundamentally important determinant of health and in the case of our children their future life chances .. this should be the government’s number one #publichealth priority if we’re serious about reducing health inequalities.. needs action not rhetoric!
This is absolutely appalling, but sadly not at all surprising www.theguardian.com/society/2024...

Advocated by many including the evangelistic and fabulous Muir Grey.
Great to see clear evidence
I’ve just shared this with colleagues.

It feels as though there is so much we could do to improve people’s health, and it doesn’t all cost a huge amount of money.

Thank you for sharing it, @kellieocallaghan.bsky.social!

Some interesting research here from (England based) myhomelife.org.uk on how many people thrive in a care setting.

In the right circumstances, a care home can be exactly the right option for someone and we shouldn’t always see it as a poor outcome, or a necessary evil.

I see the old myth that smoking bans reduce income in hospitality sector is being dragged out again. To be clear, the only studies showing any adverse effect use weak methodology and are funded by the tobacco industry
