Childless cat lady in a red state needing to commiserate. A good chunk of study for my history degree focused on authoritarian governments. I spent nearly a year studying WWII Germany in German, so my spidey sense has been on high alert since 2015.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING! I am thankful for:

-This flock is roaming through town

-People who do nice things for me

-I am still able to do small things in my community to help

-The taste and smell of coffee

-The serendipity of the right song coming on the radio just when you need it

-My peace

-Cats

I've been reading The Screwtape Letters. This passage struck me in light of SNAP not being funded on Nov. 1 and the R's refusing to discuss extending ACA subsidies.

Norman Rockwell's portrait of Lincoln as a hard-working young man who prioritized his education.

I went to the Butler Institute of Art in Youngstown, OH and it stopped me dead in my tracks. I was overcome by grief and anger at the people in our country who have devalued education and empathy.

Northeast/central east Ohioans: this is what cuts to Medicaid will do to your communities.

Three rural hospitals may close.

Bigger hospitals nearby will ALSO lose Medicaid reimbursements, reducing their ability to take extra patients.

I've never felt compelled to draw something as much as this. I'm no artist, but here's a rough draft.

I spent Saturday, June 21, 2025 living in oblivion. It was a beautiful summer day of kayaking, gardening and NAPPING. After coming home from dinner with my bestie, I saw the dumpster fire I'd missed.

This feral childless cat lady is mourning what could have been.

I've been doing my annual dog-cation and came home to this cute face.

LaVerdo Joy Fox, radio operator USS Coney,Pacific Theater in the second world war.

Two sets of headphones -- one with music, the other with code coming in. Made a game of it to see who code transcribe quickest.

It was fun until the torpedo hit and he had to dive to retrieve bodies ...

So pumped that this handsome guy came to my feeder and sang me a quick little song!

On a happy note, I got my veggie patch rearranged inside its new fence and made like 5 batches of potting soil to get my herbs and lettuce planted.

My haul from #AkronBookFest at Akron-Summit County Public Library. So far ... the day is young!

Just saw a panel with Fran Wilde, Terri Libenson, J.L.Ender and Merrill Wyatt.

Heading into a mystery writing panel with Amanda Flower, Connie Laux, Julie Anne Hatcher and Kathy Long.

Great event!

Bernie Moreno is saying that "dark money" is causing all the calls to his office, keeping him from helping people calling who "really" need his help.

Apparently he thinks I have the power to stop Musk myself and don't need his help.

I mean, I have main character syndrome, but I know my limits! 😡

I'm thankful to have friends and family who get me out of my house, a job that puts a roof over my head, and these two cuties to come home to!

My orange kitty lost his Uncle Frodo last month, so I brought home a little sister. Just over two weeks later, this is where we are. 😍
