Childless cat lady in a red state needing to commiserate. A good chunk of study for my history degree focused on authoritarian governments. I spent nearly a year studying WWII Germany in German, so my spidey sense has been on high alert since 2015.

Northeast/central east Ohioans: this is what cuts to Medicaid will do to your communities.

Three rural hospitals may close.

Bigger hospitals nearby will ALSO lose Medicaid reimbursements, reducing their ability to take extra patients.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! I am thankful for:

-This flock is roaming through town

-People who do nice things for me

-I am still able to do small things in my community to help

-The taste and smell of coffee

-The serendipity of the right song coming on the radio just when you need it

-My peace

Thanks for the conversation, @meidastouch.com . Everywhere I go, Ohioans are telling me loud and clear: they want a leader who respects them, listens to them, and fights for them.

It’s not too much to ask for - and I’m bringing it in 2026.

I've been reading The Screwtape Letters. This passage struck me in light of SNAP not being funded on Nov. 1 and the R's refusing to discuss extending ACA subsidies.

I hate this regime for co-opting Star Wars and Tolkien and blowing past the fact they are on the wrong side of both. Yikes!

Let's do the math...
If Trump was an informant who had nothing to do with Epstein's crimes, why is he resisting releasing the files? The files he allegedly helped build to bring Epstein to justice?

Anyway, I bet he'll ask the FBI to release all the very real reports they have on his very real work as an informant.

I am going to read the Declaration of Independence and Constitution from my front yard tomorrow. And if my voice holds out, parts of Timothy Snyder's On Tyranny.

This will not stand.

A delivery driver just complimented the NO KINGS sign I posted in my front window.

There are more of us out here.

I have hope.

Thanks @jesscraven101.byoutube.com for this discussion! Yes, rural hospitals will close and urban hospitals will also lose Medicaid patients when this takes effect! Call your representative!

I spent Saturday, June 21, 2025 living in oblivion. It was a beautiful summer day of kayaking, gardening and NAPPING. After coming home from dinner with my bestie, I saw the dumpster fire I'd missed.

This feral childless cat lady is mourning what could have been.

I spent most of my day making phone calls to electeds and going to a #NoKings protest yesterday.

Today I read a Stephen King book, puttered in my garden and took a short kayak trip nearby.

Make sure to take care of yourself! You have to put on your oxygen mask before helping others, so they say.

In addition to calling my electeds every day, I am going to reach out to politicians who stand against this regime to tell them:

Thank you!
I'm with you!
Keep it up!

Just a thought:

Companies that eliminated DEI programs when DJT said he would make them illegal did not 'bend the knee.'

They were just breathing a sigh of relief that they didn't have to keep up their 'cumbersome' charade anymore.

Ohioan here: I saw an ad on YouTube yesterday claiming that Emilia Sykes voted against a budget that "preserved" Medicaid and Social Security.

You're damn right she voted no. Because the bill does the OPPOSITE of preserving them.

It is a LIE.

Where is the Dem messaging on this?
