#Genealogy #stubbornmystery This is the grave marker for Pocahontas Madora Whitten (nee Rogers). It's kind of hard to see, but at the bottom there's a carving that reads "she and her 3 little ones rest in peace". She would have been 29 at her death and I can't find anything about the

#Genealogy A newspaper mention of when my dad was released from the Army after WWII. They were living in Buntyn Station at the time. 40 years later, I too would live in Buntyn Station when I was in Law School.

#Genealogy. I love going through old newspapers. There was a rabies outbreak in Memphis in 1931. My dad, aunt and grandparents all had to undergo rabies shots. Back then, they gave you multiple shots in your belly several times over the span of a week or weeks. My dad said it was painful.

many news articles published upon his death (15 Jul 1955). I'd never heard of the event and I doubt many people have but it was pretty explosive at the time and caused international issues with Italy.

#Genealogy We all find skeletons when we go digging into our family history. Drunken episodes, arrests, out of wedlock children. But how many people have discovered a relative that was part of an infamous (and shameful) piece of American History? Meet George Gurnie Parke.

full of cobwebs and dirt. I cleaned it and discovered that while I had removed the battery from the clock, I'd left the batter in the bottom movement. I put new batteries in it and it's working like it did when it was new. So glad I found it. It's about 50 years old now.

Not my chicken decided to not get involved between the Not my Cats and returned to the porch.

Suddenly, not my cat (Flash) saw his nephew, not my cat (Stewie) appear from across the street to partake in the buffet. Not my cat (Flash) was not having it and went to voice his dissatisfaction to Not my cat (Stewie).

Knowing the cat likes cat food but having no idea what chickens eat (bugs?), I spilled some of the cat food on the porch and the chicken was delighted.

They both got rather demanding and vocal about being fed.

Not my chicken and Not my cat - at picture story. I opened to door to take my trash out and found 2 visitors - Not my cat (Flash) telling me he needs food and Not my chicken agreeing.

Since I'm not able to plant a full garden, I planted a greenstock this year (and a couple of containers). My purple sweet peppers are coming in - as are some cherry tomatoes and some orange sweet peppers.

Changing Times Magazines. I have about a dozen or two of these in very good condition. Most (maybe all) are from the 1950s. They belonged to my father and I hate for them to end up in the landfill. Fun to look through - Take on or all.

This is my front door. This is not my cat looking in my door. This is Stewy. He's Flash's (who's also not my cat) brother. They both like for me to feed them.

This is my yard. This is not my chicken. She lives 2 doors down from me and she's very friendly.
May 9, 2025 at 11:10 PM
Meet Flash. He was in a litter of cats my son had. He got outside and refused to come in - seriously - he will NOT come in their house or mine (next door). But he loves my yard. He guards it. He thinks he needs to eat both at my house and next door, so he's super fat. And grumpy. But he loves me.
