First tomatoes of the season have formed! I need to brush up on how to breed tomatoes again pretty quickly here now that the first ones have started.

I wanted to save some True to type ones first so i can have better regionally adapted seeds to work with later. 🌱

Have i actually ever had an original thought?

As someone on the neurodivergent sliding scale, it's really hard because i feel like i don't communicate my thoughts well, especially verbally. And so i end up parroting things i hear said that i do deeply agree with but arent my own words...

Almost all of my tomatoes have at least one set of flowers now! In the past couple years I've always removed the first blooms, mostly because they weren't in the ground yet.

But this year I've added compost to the bed and they have been in the ground for several weeks. So they'll be staying on 🌱

I love it when things you didn't expect to perennialize, just stick around. I realized this morning as i was walking through that I planted this dill plant in 2023.

It fed black swallowtail caterpillars in the late spring, survived the texas summer and now is once again thriving

Plants are cool 🌱

Holy shit!! Trump just slipped on live TV that he lost the 2020 presidential election.

Trump would HATE it if this goes viral:

I'm looking into Texas heat tolerant salad greens.

My best ideas right now are sweet potato leaves, chard and amaranth (young and tender) but i would really like to hear what other greens you guys grow during the heat of summer. Especially if it regularly gets over 85-90°f where you are

Main crop of tomatoes planted in ground, now it's time to add a some sunflower seeds so they'll shade out the tomatoes during the heat of texas summer because i don't have a good way of putting shade cloth over this part of the garden

I'm currently stratifying some caper bush seeds, and I'm genuinely excited to see if i can get them to germinate.

I started the process 2 or 3 weeks ago, but I'm curious to know if anyone has any experience growing caper bushes and has any advice for their care outside of what's online? 🌱

After this current cold snap, my forecast doesn't have another day where it threathens to frost.

Now i just have to decide when i actually plant out my tomatoes... March 5th is my estimated last frost date.

I'll decide as it gets closer, but i may wait a week before planting the tomatoes out 🌱

I am devastated.

I brought my pepper seedlings inside because it's getting a little chilly for them and i didn't want them to get stunted.

But i guess stunted was better than what happened to them.

My youngest cat ate like 90% of them

Weeks of growth, gone. 😔

HEADLINE: CDC posts, then deletes, data on bird flu spread between cats and people. The data which appeared fleetingly online on Wednesday, confirmed transmission in two households.

It is evident the CDC is being muzzled SO let’s talk about what YOU can do to PROTECT yourself AND your pets. 🧪🧵 ⬇️

THIS IS IT. The special general elections for Florida’s 1st & 6th Congressional Districts are on APRIL 1, 2025. If we flip these seats, we can STOP Project 2025. No excuses! Mark your calendars! Show up!

I'm positive someone on here has made this list already but in case you need a reminder or haven't seen it, here is a list of things that you can regrow from scraps from the store as well as things you can grow easily from seeds and keep in an apartment with minimal lighting.

Let's go 🌱

One of the best decisions i made on bluesky is making this account for all my positive, gardening, art and good news stuff and another account just for political nonsense.

This way i can choose what i want to engage with and stay informed while also protecting my peace.

Highly recommend

My peppers, tomatoes, various flowers, kale, cabbage, tatsoi and pak choi are all underway at varying levels of maturity.

I just need to start another round of tomatoes, get some mizuna started, and i also want to plan out where i want to put carrots, my onions and beets.

Spring is gonna be fun🌱
