Another day at the lab...

Doing EEG and tDCS at the same time, while participants look at painful stimulation to another person's hand.

My PhD: finding the first causal evidence that specific neurocognitive processes are necessary for resisting immoral orders. Building on years of work on why some people say “no” to immoral orders from authority.

Now in progress: brain stimulation experiments. (prereg: 10.17605/OSF.IO/DH762)

First conference talk: ✅️

I talked about my first study --> Increasing Empathy for Pain with Brain Stimulation

Lots of nerves, imposter feelings, screen glitches, but also succesfull jokes and compliments.

Do well, my EEG preprocessing.💻
I am going to sleep and when I wake up you have run😴

+1 if there are no skipped loops
+1 if there are no errors

Goodnight

During my first master's internship, I ran a full EEG experiment about low and high visual processing features of action affordances (walking, biking, climbing)! That data is now published at #CCN2025 in Amsterdam 🎉.

How to stay motivated while doing concurrent EEG-tDCS work?

Well... I make a game of how many participants I can test without getting an error of exceeding impedance limit🤣

It works.
Current streak is 4

11 hrs in the lab today 😵‍💫 but the setup’s finally ready! EEG ✅ shock machine ✅ tDCS ✅️

Initial problem? No right cable to trigger the NeuroConn via BNC 😩
Solution was an Arduino + ChatGPT + safety pin + best friend who knows a lot about cables.⚡️

It worked! We danced💃 Pasta time now 🍝

🩹EHBO (first aid) refresher!

Today I had the refresh first-aid course. Super useful to feel extra safe with my participants studies.

Or with people passing out during my exam inviligation😅

(Tip for you! It is so important for everyone).

Stop only sharing your new job, latest paper, shiny grant, or prestigious award.

Yes, celebrate win, but if that’s all we post, we create a toxic, unrealistic feed.
Real life, especially in research, is full of setbacks and struggle. Let’s not hide that.

We deserve a space that feels REAL.

Free day; Pentecost! Or… just Monday at the office for me.

Not working out of stress, just swapping days because tomorrow I’m getting 2 wisdom teeth removed. Ice pack > desk.🦷🧊

Grateful for PhD flexibility and the peace of an empty office today 😉

I’ve been focused on practical stuff ->experiment prep, piloting, analysis, but not much reading. #impostersyndrome, feeling not doing enough 🤷‍♀️

This morning, I finally sat down to read. Now my brain’s spinning with 20 new ideas. 🚀

Note to self: read more. Not to catch up. But because I like it

Presented my poster at BAPS this Monday. Great questions & chats! 🧠✨ Then an amazing brain stimulation symposium by Stefanie De Smet. Conferences are always nice, but very exhausting 😅(esp. on crutches🩼)
