It’s so cool to see early examples of superstitions and old wives’ tales that still get passed down. See in particular “Of the ominous appearing of owles and ravens,” “Of the falling of salt,” and “Of the cheeks burning, or ear tingling.”

It took me forever, but I finally finished this manuscript-inspired knitted cowl and while it’s not perfect it was an excellent Learning Experience.

Absolutely nothing beats the absolute rush of unpacking the university library book you feared you accidentally sold to half-price books.

Obviously the lesson I took away from this is do not get rid of the books, ever, for any reason; in fact, keep all of the books, forever.

Calling any pottery/ceramic conservation folks: my mom inherited some of her great-grandmother’s china, and the sugar bowl is really discolored. She found a website suggesting soaking it in hydrogen peroxide, but I told her to wait to get a second opinion. Thoughts on how to proceed?
