Bikes, Chicago, accessible postsecondary education, music. "Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness."
Walking into the office today I saw this marquee and I had a ticket before I sat down at my desk. THIS is the city living I dreamed of when I was 15, in the middle of nowhere, living off mix tapes from pen pals.

A reminder for myself and hopefully encouragement for the people I pass.

Chicago was FULL today and I felt restored by being surrounded by my fellows, all caring and trying.

A mere SixTEEN YEARS in the making- learned a lot on this one and did my first ever hand quilting. I'm really pleased and so is my dear husband, the newly-cozy recipient #quiltsky

My longest-running WIP and first hand quilting attempt- the center medallion is a mola we bought in Panama in 2009. The teeny stitches that artist made are very impressive/intimidating. It's cool to feel like I'm collaborating with her. #quiltsky

A source of delight I have been giving myself since 2020: a print club subscription to Starshaped Press. Each month I get a small bundle of local art, suitable for sharing, and I have an excuse to send a letter to somebody I love. www.starshaped.com

Done, bound, and ready for gifting tomorrow! This little cozy lap quilt is a surprise for a dear friend who said she likes "sunset colors" best. Every stitch with love, like my mom always says. 💕

Clifton and Wilson, across from Truman and next to Downstate Donuts. Lovely stretch of murals tucked in there!

The Insect Asylum in Chicago is a glorious nexus of animals, insects, taxidermy, communty, and art. It was restorative to see how the folks there have made a vibrant, weird dream come to life and welcomed others to share in it freely. Please visit.

I made this VERY loud improv quilt for a VERY loved baby and its tree frog motif was so nice to play with. Taught myself curved piecing on this one!
