I'm a queer, poly trans woman who loves coffee, talking too much, and puns so bad that friends worry about my mental health!

Post content will be random, but will range from gender, to data rants, to jokes about product managers (for example, I am one).
I might be the sole person in the universe who finds this amusing.

I loved it! I read almost all of it while sitting on a beach in Florida.

...although, I might be doing "beach reads" wrong...

Reminds me somewhat of Hank Green's comments in a similar vein: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNw8...
I feel like I can't talk about this, but...

My car is having problems, and I spoke with someone who literally buys cars as a service.

And his advice was basically, "Ok, but... have you considered *not* buying a car?"

Said differently, earnest authenticity kicks ass.

Not sure that makes sense, but something that's been on my mind.

Which feels like it could lead to very toxic situations? Like, it's already super easy to convince human users that LLMs are "real" in some way... models tuned to always praise the user could either actively prey on that and/or passively cause dependence in bad ways....

These models also definitely seemed tuned to flatter the user. I have occasionally found legitimate benefit from asking an LLM to help me reflect on something. But I *always* have to cut through incredible amounts of bullshit flattery. (cc @timkellogg.me )

Like... I understand using it to generate text you don't care about, that is low stakes, and you just need to done... I still avoid that, but I get it.

But to use it for what is theoretically the more fun or personally meaningful stuff feels... dumb?

Especially because it will always be easy to verify that they didn't actually write the post... and right now, all of those tools sound the same.

I am genuinely curious as to why so many folks use AI to generate social media posts, blog posts, or personal communications for them? Like, the whole point of that media is it's supposed to be *from* *you*... if a bot wrote it... why even bother? What do they think their achieving?

Seriously one of my favorite type of experiences... For me, I love those moments where it feels like the walls come down and people just talk earnestly and excitedly about the thing they do.
