It's a work in progress, but I just pulled this cake out of the oven! I used the "basic yellow cake" recipe from Erin Jeanne McDowell's The Fearless Baker, and it looks super promising!
I will be frosting it later with a creamy malted milk chocolate frosting from @americastestkitchen.com

I love sunsets – especially when water is involved. This shot is from the Okefenokee Swamp in December 2022. I loved how dramatic the trees looked against the horizon.

I love D&D and similar games! I've never played super intensely, but it's been a constant presence in my life for over a decade now. I'm always excited to have an excuse to talk shit with friends for a few hours – especially if absurd adventures are involved.

I love roasting my own coffee! I'm not able to match the flavors of a good, professional roaster. But it's fun, I love the smell as the beans cook, and I enjoy the final product!
Plus, just the act of sitting there for 20-40min, watching the beans tumble is pretty relaxing.

I love how important cuddles are to our dog Marsha – spending time with her humans on the couch is a critical part of her day, which she will insist on if we forget.

I don't do it enough, but I love looking at the night sky! This photo was taken in December in the Okefenoke Swamp. We had my telescope out, and it was so much fun showing planets and nebulae to other folks!

I love painting my nails fun colors! It is just so much fun to be able to see them throughout the day. It has meant so much for my wife to teach me the ins and outs of painting my nails and to encourage me when I've gotten frustrated.
