Don't EVER tell a man to be a good person or he'll join a death cult and campaign for your extinction
If progressives want to win back young men, then they must talk to them and address their needs, instead of constant scolding. All the finger wagging just drives them to Rogan, Peterson, and the Tate brothers. And they DO talk to young men.

We are about to enter an era of extreme and dangerous culture war in the United States. How do we protect our communities and work toward a cultural ceasefire? In this piece I wrote a couple months ago, I offer one possible path. wapo.st/40q1BDn
Opinion | Libraries can help end the culture wars. That’s why they’re under fire.
Nothing threatens authoritarianism like a free, quiet place to absorb a full range of information.

i think the executive orders directing agencies to end energy efficiency regulations and open up more land to drilling and mining is so indicative of the character of the american right — in its view everything, whether people or our larger environment, is something to be exploited and dominated

I went to graduate school to study with a well-known scholar of colorblind racism, and the idea that powerful people couch their hatred in euphemism to avoid social sanction seems increasingly quaint when the world's richest man is doing the Nazi salute at the President's inauguration.

🌊 Green Energy for Carbon Capture

A new study explores pairing ocean thermal energy (OTEC) with carbon capture to store CO2 in marine sediments. This approach could cut global warming by 35% over 70 years.

I still get into conversations where people get upset with me when I say industrial quantities of solar will be available for $0.005-0.01/kWh, but not when we want it. We have to do the work now to build the transmission, multilevel storage & H2 prod&stor to absorb & transform it when it’s available
Currently working in the realm of solar PV, and given my job, behind very strict NDAs. But, don't think I'm going to shock by saying: it's going to take over the world, and probably faster than even the most bullish think.

Module prices bounded around that would make @solarchase.bsky.social weep.

Not to blog about it but the reliance on AI for creative endeavors funnels right into fascism because if you stop believing you can imagine something fantastical on your own, you stop believing anything is possible beyond what is fed to you.
Generative AI art skeeves me out because it is so unsettling to consider outsourcing your literal imagination. What do you mean you need to generate this. Why don't you just sit and think about it
