My take: He's merely pointing out that the "abundance" philosophy in action would have a big effect on economic growth. Almost 70% of GDP is consumer spending.

I was just mocking the genre.

Weird how people assume mass transit is universal and using a car is a character flaw.

THIS!! Keep fighting the good fight, Will.

His language is jarring. His use of first-person (I need, I'm short) makes it sound like he’s a team lead in a mid-sized company. He's a Cabinet secretary, supposedly a voice of public stewardship, not a business manager. It's not about his department; it's a national safety concern.

Lucky you!!

Also, the video was not "weird." It was contemptible. Disgraceful.

He gives off 11th-grade boy "books are stupid" vibe, for sure.

Right! It's a long-standing dog whistle.

Words matter. They have a lot of power among smart people.

The cartoonish video is less concerning to me than Noem's actual words: "Chicago, we're here for you." HOW IS THIS HAPPENING? The US government is overtly declaring war on a US citizens -- and yes, depicting how it's going to play out.

“Democrat” isn’t an adjective; it’s a MAGA shibboleth, a rhetorical jab meant to withhold the positive connotation of “democratic,” a term associated with democracy itself, to the party and its members.

Yes! This is important. Post should read, "This is their purposefully misrepresented interpretation of DEI."

I say this every time I see a post about "distractions." They're real actions with real motives and real consequences. We shouldn't diminish them as merely a diversionary tactic.

No need to sound so surprised

This gives off "Hitler was a brilliant leader" vibes

My girl Mills stood up to him.

It’s not juvenile -- in intent or in consequence-- and it’s not a distraction

Incredible. I recently attended an orchestra performance at Lincoln Center free of charge, part of their Summer for the City program. Hundreds of shows for free and "choose what you pay."
