The hidden cost of every "yes" is often something valuable we already have.

- Sleep and downtime
- Time with loved ones
- Other opportunities
- Quality over quantity in current work
- Personal well-being
- Mental clarity

What is the hidden cost?

There’s nothing like community!

I’ve just joined the official Education Leaders community. It’s a space for leaders like us to share, learn and grow together.

Better yet, it’s free and you can join using the link:

Do you and your team feel safe enough to truly speak up at work?

The freedom to speak up without fear, psychological safety, popularised by the work of Amy Edmonson, is the bedrock of high-performing teams, yet research shows it declining, stifling innovation and leading to burnout.

Does education always have to be actionable?

How do you adapt to change?

It can be so easy to take big steps but real change often happens when it becomes part of our daily life.

Early morning trip for a day at Bett.

Each year I visit the focus becomes slightly clearer:

-Quality over quantity.

-Focussed conversations and real connections.

-Impact over technology.

How will what I see give a voice to others?

@informededucation.com I can’t wait to meet you.

I remember the awe when walking the streets of London for the first time.

Over time I got busy and stopped looking around. Unfortunately the culture and history became routine.

I began to take it for granted.

The last two days reignited that feeling of appreciation.

Thanks @shaneleaning.com!

What an amazing community @trustcpdleads.bsky.social, @samgibbs.bsky.social and @missgoodyear.bsky.social you hit a chord at the end of the session.

It’s often not the outcome we achieve or the model we use, rather the conversation that it sparks that can be crucial.

Change always feels like a journey through the unknown.

It’s messy, it’s uncomfortable but maybe that’s where the growth is?

How do we make space for that uncertainty?

Have you ever based your entire perspective of someone on just a superficial glimpse?

It's so easy to do.

We all make snap judgments.

But there's so much more under the surface:

↳ Hopes
↳ Fears
↳ Dreams
↳ Struggles

We never know the full story.

Trying something different.

A new way of sharing ideas through video.

Would love to hear your thoughts ☺️

New Year’s resolutions can be exciting.

But change isn’t always easy.

It stirs up old patterns.

It forces us to let go of familiar parts of ourselves.

And it sometimes leads to tough conversations with ourselves and those closest to us.

Wishing you an uplifting 2025 ahead! 🎉

London lights.

No I wasn’t intentionally trying to do this. Yes, it came out better than what I was expecting.

“I hope that either all of us or none of us are judged by the actions of our weakest moments but rather by the strength we show when and if we’re ever given a second chance.”

Ted Lasso

@shaneleaning.com thanks for getting me hooked on an amazing series, have a feeling they’ll be more of these 🙈

In leadership, education, and life, our choices often speak to challenges unseen and aspirations deeply personal.

As humans we may not always see eye-to-eye, but understanding comes from asking and being genuinely curious.

What questions do you wish others would be curious to ask you?

“Don’t judge me by my choices when you don’t understand my reasons.”

Every decision we make is often layered with experience, values, context and the unique journey that shapes each of us.

So this feels surreal!

It's hard to describe the feeling of holding a physical copy of the manuscript for Change
Starts Here.

An exciting and nerve-wracking weekend awaits as @shaneleaning.com and gear up for one last once-over before sending it off to the publishers.

We’re late again to nursery, but today I know it’s worth it.

Our family are adjusting to life with a newborn.

My eldest wants to spend as much time with my wife. Understandable but not easy.

When I can I’ve been trying (possibly too hard 🙈) to make those few moments I have with her special.

I don't think I can ever truly know someone else's world, yet I hope I can ignite something in my audience.

Jean Piaget said, "The goal of education is not to increase the amount of knowledge but to create the possibilities for a child to invent and discover."

I remember the first time I saw snow fall.

Unlike my daughter, I was much older—19, having just moved from Australia to Canada.

I was in awe.

The change in climate symbolised a new chapter in my life.

I’m new on this platform, but if the name bluesky suggests what might be possible, I’m all in!
