When people talk of Trump leading to the collapse of the legal system, they either don’t know that Family Court exists or are fearful of all courts becoming like Family Court.

Whenever I tell someone I anticipate they will receive a (de facto) life sentence, I am always amazed that at how calm and collected people are after receiving such news.

This is another example of how the rules and norms about what you have free speech to talk ABOUT are often different from what you can say TO someone.
Example: As a public defender, I have in private complained about a judge’s ruling. If I said what I thought to the judge, I go to jail.

/3 I suspect that many free speech defenders — including FIRE — would decry a professor who told conservative students to their faces that they didn’t belong there. And well they should. They’d call it a chilling abuse. Yet this is spun disingenuously as being “I just have an opinion.”

Harris didn't pick Shapiro, so Trump calls her choice "insulting to Jewish people." But if she had picked Shapiro, Trump would have been calling Shapiro a bad Jew over his strident criticisms of Netanyahu. Trump doesn't care about antisemitism; he just deploys it for advantage.
