Ahh, such innocent times. How were we to know how much worse it would get?

The planet indeed will, but sacrificing all those other species in our suicidal greed is unconscionable.

Pretty sure it's evaded their attention that trans people are human beings with the attendant human needs.

Actually physically nauseated that this could even have been put under consideration, much less been briefed out. Every decent person must be very clear that this is wholly unacceptable so they're forced into (another) U-turn. I'll be writing to my MP once I've calmed down enough not to swear.
If the government really intends to seize jewellery and other valuables from refugees,
either
- it is staggeringly ignorant of the historical precedents
or
- it's aware of the precedents, and thinks, yeah, we'll have some of that.

You're so right, and I think that community and solidarity are shining thru in Zack's comms. I truly hope we (as a species and as a party) can take action on now inevitable harms before too late, but working together will be key at all levels of society, micro to macro for mitigation AND adaptation.

At least some of the more... disruptive single issue fixated elements are no longer causing grief.

No system is perfect admittedly, but I far prefer ours.
November 14, 2025 at 11:47 PM
Which is why I pointed out the great job that Zack has been doing on that front, but the policies haven't changed. At least no more than the standard evolutions voted on by members at every conference.

If you then normalise the recreational use of cannabis, again with safe dosages instead of the high THC content of current strains that can cause psychological issues, you have both a new tax base and a saving in the health and policing costs of binge-drinking.

I would argue that decriminalisation is a net benefit to the economy. Far cheaper to treat addicts than imprison them and deal with the knock on social costs of that. Plus the health benefits of untainted and properly dosed actives.

...able to put pressure on other parties). I really wish that pointing out what a dire situation we're in was enough but if it were it wouldn't have taken 50yrs for the Green Party to have this breakthrough with a leader who can "sell" climate justice as a job lot with economic and social justice.
November 14, 2025 at 9:24 PM
Zack is repeatedly mentioning the climate emergency in his interviews but you noted know what, you're probably right, it *is* too doom & gloom for the average voter. They just want to know they can pay the bills and have a nice life. We need their votes in order to actually *do* anything (or to be..

The Greens truly are a democratic party. Policy is devised in working groups before being put to the membership at conference. Also, our leadership elections are every two years to keep them on their toes!

As it's own membership has voted for.
November 14, 2025 at 7:47 PM
In fairness, the ideas haven't changed but @zackpolanski.bsky.social is doing a stonking job in communicating them and enthusing members and supporters old and new. No surprise. That's why he got 85% of the vote in the internal election.

Zack Polanski said his job was to make Labour more worried about the Green Party than ReformUK. 😁

It's about proportionality. It's not fair that earnings are taxed at a higher rate than income derived from wealth like capital gains and dividends so the wealthy are paying an effective rate lower than that of a nurse.
