There’s something beautiful about how bones tell stories long after the body is gone, especially when the creature was once a magical companion.

That’s the name I gave this little goat familiar. I like naming my characters, because sometimes they return in other artworks, years later, in a different medium or a new story.
Hemlock feels like one of those.

I’ve always been fascinated by feline faces. I originally created a holographic sticker design of a magical cat familiar, and the idea stayed with me, and I knew I wanted to draw it again in graphite. I also added a few gold details using acrylic paint.

I’ve been slowly adding items that I sell at conventions to my online shop. These Luna Moth postcards are now available🌙: eevanikunen.com/shop/luna-mo...

Over the weekend, I was selling my art at a local convention. On Sunday, during a few quiet moments, I found myself daydreaming about what art I want to create next, and this little winged cat appeared in my mind.
As soon as I got home, I knew I had to draw her.

I painted this gouache piece last year while saying goodbye to my beloved cat, Willow.
It’s a small painting, but it holds a lot of meaning because of when I painted it.
I keep the original next to her photo, and I’ll never part with it. Some artworks are just too personal to sell.

I’m looking forward to this new year and all the new art it will bring.✨I’m also back on Patreon. I just released this new coloring page for my Patrons, it’s inspired by the month of January.❄️
