I’ve been a big Osman fan since meeting with him for the Hennepin Ave reconstruction in ‘22. As soon as I showed him the data about how many people in Ward 6 don’t have cars he was in. We don’t always agree, but he’s ~pragmatic~ & definitely in it for what‘s good for his ward

I’m grateful to be on the side of politics that is values-driven and hopeful. & I can’t fault anyone for following the candidate that best matched their values & gave them the most hope.

After elections I tend to think in two ways:
- what systems do I think hindered the result I wanted & do I have any influence/capacity to make this a tiny bit better
- what can I personally do differently to get the result, coalition, candidate I want next time

TLDR I agree energy is so important! I hope there are lessons we can learn (& apply!) on how to build & maintain energy in the future

& lastly! I’d truly have loved to door knock for a mayoral candidate but was spending 2-5 hours per week on another important race & I’m glad I did! I’m not sure what the right balance is with how we all choose to allocate our volunteer time & we know ground game is important in all races.

I really want to be treated like someone who is discerning & can understand things & I’d bet other voters do too.

A really large part of why I got on board with Koski was because she released the first policy platform, I was surprised by how good it was, and she was the first & only mayoral candidate to call me (either personally or volunteers) this entire election cycle

This brings me to a second point: I’m a pretty involved person but not enough of an insider to be knowledgable about candidate selection or earlier conversations. While I’m somewhat willing to trust my pals, that only goes so far. I want a policy platform & ideally candidate contact.

IMO it’s not enough to canvas & tell people to caucus without explaining the process. It’s also important to set expectations, have *very good* convener training, & set expectations again.

This is work I’d like to be involved in but don’t really know how so connect me!

Caucuses & conventions. Whether you think they are good or not, it’s a bear universal experience that they are very confusing to new comers & often energy-zapping even if you get the outcome you want

A very good point

Yes! I think the organizing Is very good & I’m glad you all are doing it! Very important work.

Unless something really incredible happens down there! would love to be proven wrong. I do think it is important to continue to organize for when Palmisano retires - could be 2029 or if she runs for mayor that changes things too!

Personal opinion: I think progressives should let Ward 13 go in the next mayoral election too. While it wouldn’t have made a difference for mayor & likely not for council, I think Shaffer & Frey helped turnout for each other in 7 & personally I don’t think we need that in 13 in 2029.

I honestly think it is easier to beat Frey than Palmisano

Lastly! I liked that he was very earnest, willing to look goofy, & followed through on his silly video thing. At times I think this demonstrated that he was good at explaining hard to grasp things simply & I liked this about him too. Minor point but!

Hampton also had a very different take on homelessness than Frey. I think this is important & one reason I don’t personally find it fair to think of him as ‘Frey lite’

I actually ranked Fateh second because policy-wise, I had more faith in him than Davis—just my personal opinion.
November 6, 2025 at 11:56 PM
I also think he is more collaborative that our current mayor & wouldn’t veto as much. I was relatively confident council would go the way I wanted & I didn’t see policy/legislation being critical in the mayor as long as they stayed out of the way

I thought he was the best person to be in charge of the police & be the person who shows up in a crisis & not just not make it worse, but make it better. To me, this is a super important part of the mayor‘s job & I think we’re unfortunately headed into a crisis-rich four years.
