While the overall result in Herbert wasn’t what we’d hoped for, we did achieve an increase in the first preference vote for Labor, and, more importantly, the voices of tens of thousands of everyday people in Townsville were heard and amplified.

Today I am honoured to be visiting beautiful Palm Island at the invitation of Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council. I've spent a lot of time on Palm over the years and it's always a pleasure to go back. I'll be setting up a mobile office at the mall, and will be visiting with community.

We'll cut 20% from all student debt. That means for example if you have a HECS debt of $20,000 it'll be cut to $16,000 under a re-elected Labor Government.

It's always a pleasure to catch up with Natasha and Joshua Lane from QLD Youth Connections, an organisation doing great things with our First Nations young people. We had some great chats about issues facing our Townsville First Nations communities, and where there are service delivery gaps. ❤️💛🖤 💚🤍💙
