Specifically, why not use KDP entirely? You can still order copies from there to sell/distribute physically.

So, you generate print copies from IS, and essentially the same print copy from KDP, using (respectively), your own ISBN for IS and the same ISBN for KDP?

Yeah, it was. Took me a couple years.
