Also health insurance companies do offer incentives to be healthier! Like going through a smoking cessation program can reduce rates and/or earn you perks. I got gift cards for completing 5K races.

12 yos are in such a liminal space—not quite kids, not quite teenagers, wanting still to be both. They are beautiful and heartbreaking in equal measure. And hilarious and exasperating, also in equal measure

Going to a Bible college turned at least one friend atheist, because they actually studied the Bible in depth and she was like “wait a minute, this is not what I’ve been told” and then it all came crumbling down after that

Part of the challenge for me was actually having to eat more, or at least more frequently. I just got SO BORED thinking about what to eat and when and oh it’s been x hours I need y protein and fat or whatever. Sympathy and solidarity!

Omg, I don’t know the situation but knowingly exposing someone to an allergen is horrific (outside of something like allergy shots, I guess)

I had a friend whose kid has an incredibly severe peanut allergy. They could basically only do Disney vacations because that was the one place they were guaranteed an absolutely peanut free environment everywhere they went.

When my kid was in the NICU, the nurses had to tell us to go home on New Year’s Eve. “You have the most qualified babysitters possible, go home,” they said. I felt such guilt! You’re doing a really kind thing.
