We have just published a dyrosaurid crocodile from the Maastrictian of Angola. Despite the fragmentary remains, they provide interesting phylogenetic information. Thanks to Arthur Maréchal for his great work!

Baracromians were fast, streamlined marine reptiles adapted for deep diving. Gadusaurus lived ~190 Ma during a marine transgression, hunting fish and mollusks off the Jurassic coast of modern-day Portugal. 🌊🦑

The name Gadusaurus aqualigneus refers to its codfish-like shape (Gadus in latin) and the site where it was found. Its skull shows a large nasal foramen and two symmetrical grooves, features that make it unique among Baracromian ichthyosaurs. 🐟🦕

In 2021, teacher Isabel Roldão found a fossil-bearing rock at Praia de Água de Madeiros (Portugal). After removing the sediment, she revealed an almost complete ichthyosaur skull and contacted @MuseudaLourinha, launching an international research with Spain
