Also, I'm not even particularly against the planned nuclear expansion, but what are we doing making that our sole path forward in this, the year 2025.

Use both lanes. Merge at the merge, not sooner. Leave a gap. Don't slow to a stop. Left lane goes, then right lane goes.

Do it right, and it all flows smoothly.

See, I feel like this popular take just grossly misunderstands Klein.

Everything about Klein's project is downstream of the question of how to defeat Trump so that the left can win and go on to implement policy that actually helps people (and not lose and be subject to policy that harms people.)

Coates doesn't disagree on the diagnosis of the risk, not really.

What he disagrees on is whether the current threat of bad times is so unusual as to demand that he moderate his principled self.

And as a man with a long view of Black history, he rejects the premise.

No, it isn't. No, I won't.

One thing Klein sees clearly is that although this moment is not yet unusually bad in the context of America's long history of political violence, the institutions and esp. the political parties of 2025 *are* unusually (and dangerously) poorly equipped to navigate what bad times look like.

PSA: These Promise bagels (from Farm Boy) are by a mile the best general purpose gluten-free sandwich bun that’s relatively easy to find.

It’s not crumbly!

In 2019, Kawhi Leonard made demands of the Toronto Raptors that line up “almost perfectly” with the terms of his apparent cap-circumvention deal with the LA Clippers.

Among other things, Kawhi pushed for a $10M no-show job + ownership in the Leafs.

Like, I can make a pretty decent pizza dough at home with ingredients I can get at the store, using the first recipe I find online — and it doesn’t totally suck! It only sucks a little!

The politics-all-the-time vibe in here is frankly oppressive, so even though I do join in the feeling that this moment’s politics is important, all of the time, I’m gonna make a conscious effort to post about other things more frequently.
