*All-time record* set at the Omni Centre cycle lane on the 7th November - 2,265 cycle journeys.

I can only speculate that the rollout of Voi e-bikes has significantly boosted cycling in Edinburgh this autumn, bucking the seasonal trend.

Well done to Edinburgh Police for calling what these things are - motorcycles.

I hope the rider recovers from his injuries soon.

...and a HGV on zig zags.

Followed by a wait at the Omni car park entrance...

Hello @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social , any reason pedestrians/cyclists have to wait through 6 traffic phases (c5 minutes) before we get a chance to cross London Road?

Looks like a strong autumn for the Omni Centre cycle lane in Edinburgh - possibly linked to the recent introduction of Voi e-bikes?

Otherwise, numbers have stabilised after large increases over the past few years. More infrastructure - particularly cycle hangars - is needed to sustain momentum.

This was the worst one I've ever seen...

Actually got worse while I've been in the pub

Elm Row is just a car-centric mess now. Could have been one of the nicest bits of public realm in Edinburgh.

Since when did parking on zig zags become socially - and legally - acceptable?

A complete lack of enforcement here on Commercial Street, mirrored across Edinburgh.

STOLEN. If anyone recognises this fox, or sees £50 worth of pond plants for sale on Gumtree/Facebook, please call 101.

This is our bicycle storage solution...

There are now 4,400 people waiting for a spot in a secure cycle hangar in Edinburgh - that figure has grown by nearly 1,000 in just the last year. My map of hangars and demand can be found here: rpubs.com/edtiss/hangars

I love cycling and I love the mad lads at Calmac.

I aimed for a gap in the waves and completely missed.

Edinburgh Council's response to increasing cyclist casualties?

Spending thousands on ripping out the few bits of good infrastructure we have.
August 31, 2025 at 11:37 AM
If the police are so worried about blind spots, why did they drive past this van parked on zig zags without even having a word with the driver?
August 28, 2025 at 8:54 AM
This is a positive response from the trams team - but it does not bode well that it was needed in the first place.

I can accept the Roseburn Path option but only on the strict condition that the path is at least 3m wide throughout and the route marked in blue is implemented.
August 27, 2025 at 1:24 PM
Here is the strava heat map for the past week. It's that bright red bit they intend to divert to a crossing on a busy road. 2m is not wide enough for the busiest cycle route in the city.

(I think they would need to tunnel between Russell Road and Balbirnie Pl to make the diversion work...)
August 26, 2025 at 2:57 PM
This is the biggest problem with the Roseburn Path proposal - it looks like cyclists will be diverted to a crossing on the A8 and a convoluted route towards Fountainbridge.

Red = the proposal as I interpret it
Blue = what should be built

If this is resolved then I think I *could* support it.

The cycle lane on Leith Walk, Edinburgh, set an all time record of 2,147 cyclists on Wednesday, 13th August 2025.

Overall growth in the number of cyclists has slowed this year, likely a result of displacememnt to the new CCWEL cycle lane at York Place.
August 18, 2025 at 6:26 AM
Forced into carriageway by a HGV driver... and then subsequently bullied off the road by a bus driver (who I caught up with anyway).

I can't use the cycle lane if there's a HGV parked on it!

Happily, this kind of behaviour hasn't put too many people off - need a cycle lane up Leith Street ASAP.
