I am so sorry to hear this. I have read all his books, but 'Original
Copy', his first collection of reviews, is a favourite. No-one could creat such a vivid picture of a book in 1000 words.

Great interview. Thanks for reposting it (and writing it in the first place, of course).

Talked some sense and did not repeat himself three times every over. No future.

What an album! Freddie was so amazing on so many albums in this period.

The closing of the bridge is very frustrating. They do it whenever the Metro is not running. Why?

Great call. Not my favourite Herbie, but a barnburner all the same.

Bernard Knox, whose final collection of essays was 'Backing into the Future' provides some detail.

This is fantastic. I'm also a great admirer of Kipling (with the same reservations, of course) and Tony Harrison. Loved the stuff about the Georgics, too. Many thanks.

Great piece.

Obviously the Miles version is great, with incredible work by the rhythm section. But I prefer the groove Eddie strikes here. A wonderful album.

I do wish there was some way of unrolling this. So much food for thought!

Great to hear.

Are you still out here, Carl? If so, I hope you are enjoying yourself.

You have great taste. My one gig would be different, but this is a burning date. The best Booker and almost the best Dolphy (I like his work with Trane best).

David, could you please explain this for those without Japanese? Apologies if I have missed something obvious.

I will start to worry when the first person who can demonstrably write admits to using the plagiarism machine. While it is exclusively hacks and frauds, I refuse to panic.
