Great to see @economist.com cover apprenticeships & the Growth and Skills Levy. @edgeceo.bsky.social warns that moves to scrap English & maths exit requirements for adult apprentices may help boost the numbers, but we need to think more strategically about declining apprenticeship starts.

Important reaction from @fsb_policy on latest drop in L2 and 3 apprenticeship starts. Our recent Flex Without Compromise report flagged the importance of protecting apprenticeship funding for SMEs (and continuing the policy of fully funding training costs for 16-21 apprentices in SMEs).
It’s vital that Government funding supports small businesses to recruit talented young people as apprentices, as well as allowing small firms to grow and flourish 👷🏾
