One of the most blatant forms of Christian hypocrisy in our time is Christians holding all ordinary people accountable to the most rigid moral standards while simultaneously holding themselves and their preferred politicians accountable to no standards at all.

My newsletter tomorrow is called “No King But Jesus.”

In it, I invite us to consider what it means to call Jesus a king, whose kingdom is not of this world and who died for his enemies rather than conquering them, in a world full of Caesars.

I wish every American could watch this. In which a Republican Representative (Rep. Schweikert) talks about the magnitude of our debt problem, the recklessness of Trump's tax cuts, and how DOGE has been insignificant in actually tackling the real budget problem: www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RQE...

If you wanted to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, you would empower the inspectors general.

If you wanted more waste, fraud, and abuse, you would fire them.

Christians are turning on the programs and groups that they helped create. That won’t solve our budget crisis. It won’t end the culture war. It will, however, harm the people Scripture commands us to care for.

In this surreal time in the history of our country, where are you all finding hope?

As for me, I draw most of my peace & hope from my Christian faith… which includes a belief that government and other powers of this world do not get the final say.

I love playing @destinythegame.bungie.net, it’s my fav game! That said, I was gifted a handful of great games for Christmas. Indiana Jones, FF7 Rebirth, & Shadow of the Erdtree are fantastic! I’ll get back to D2 once I finish these other games. It’s hard for me to play more than 1 game at a time 🥹

I can’t find a news source, no matter how reputable, that my Trump supporting friends & fam will give any validity to. It’s weird for me online. I’m not a hate-poster. I don’t “dunk” on people. I just want to connect w/ them. Praying about how to best love the folks who I think are believing lies.

If your Christianity causes you to be offended by someone asking the most powerful person in the country to be merciful towards the powerless, then you have profoundly misunderstood the teachings of Jesus Christ.
