I remember formal rapid response epiglottis teams in our pediatric hospital. They included anesthesia as well as ENT staff in case emergency tracheostomy was needed. Preschoolers were especially at risk. Case #s fell dramatically after intro of HiB vaccine in the 80’s. We can’t go back!
I've seen a child with tetanus, I've treated near fatal infections after chicken pox, and I've pronounced children dead from COVID whose parents refused to have them vaccinated.

I remember formal rapid response epiglottis teams in our pediatric hospital. They included anesthesia as well as ENT staff in case emergency tracheostomy was needed. Preschoolers were especially at risk. Case #s fell dramatically after intro of HiB vaccine in the 80’s. We can’t go back!

Public Libraries can be wonderful places where children and adults can find books that they can see themselves reflected in, no matter who they are, and books that can introduce them to entire other lived experiences. Both are so valuable!

We are going to see more & more human cases of avian flu- which can be very serious in young people too- bc it’s circulating widely in animals. No human to human transmission yet but it’s already mutated for mammal to mammal transmission in cows. www.theguardian.com/world/2024/n...
