We had two wonderful guests in Johnson Hall today. Charles Graves II of NC DNCR talked to students about opportunities at his agency! Nigerian Fulbright scholar Dr. Ngozi Udengwu discussed Chinua Achebe‘s No Longer at Ease with Prof. McCleese’s Major Figures in Black Literature class!

For years, scholars talked about World War I poetry without reference to Black WWI veterans. Perhaps they didn't know about them?

Now we do! See e.g. this digital collection of Pvt. Chester Westfield's book of verse. Westfield saw active combat in France in 1918.
