I believe it. I have friends in the US who make insane amounts of money and they still say they don’t know where it all goes.

Top tip: consume less!!! Your money will go a LOT further.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Many of us having been calling for more deer culling, as they cause traffic accidents, eat tree saplings, etc.

But again, this could be another shift from 1 harmful thing to another, instead of curbing consumption altogether.

For those of you who are confused about what “the machine” is, read:

Sheldon Wolin, Chris Hedges, David Graeber and Noam Chomsky.

Then come back to my thread, which will make more sense. 🙏🏼

I think you are completely misunderstanding what a building society is.

It has nothing to do with “BUILDING SOCIETIES”.

It is a mutually owned financial institution. They don’t invest in fossil fuels, etc.

Fair enough. To each their own. 👍

This is what a building society is:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buildin...

It is not a bank. It is owned by its members. I was not making a reference to individuals “building society”.

I would suggest you read my full list of recommendations. Some may interest you. 😉

Thanks for sharing. But I don’t understand your point.

My list is composed of things one can do to remove themselves from the machine. If you want to shop on Amazon and only buy new clothes, that’s your right. What’s there to disagree with? 🤷🏽‍♂️

Open source software? Private encrypted email❓❓🤦🏽‍♂️

Who the hell are you hanging out with? Yowzers!

Yes, I brought yowzers back from the 1950s. That's how shocked I am. 🙀

Yup. Consumption needs to be reduced. I don’t see any other solution. Anything else is magical thinking. 🤷🏽‍♂️
December 7, 2025 at 12:39 PM
🙌 That would be my solution.

I watched this a while ago. And it was depressing. I didn't like how you were portrayed.

Do you think the entire film was a waste? Surely, her points on the sheer amount of consumption were valid? That's what I took away from it. Even at current pop. levels, if we consume like this, we're screwed.

Hope the tsunami remembers what the left actually stands for. Currently, we have a bunch of centrists, unwilling to challenge power and capital.

A tsunami won’t do us any good if it sucks up to power. We have to remember not to vote for any old blue. They need to challenge the system!

2010 is not 2020 and it is definitely not 2025. It is now possible to charge your EV entirely from renewables. Whereas the Volt used mostly coal.

Most of the data is inaccurate. What is not inaccurate, is the importance of consuming less and keeping our population within healthy limits.

Hopefully it doesn't rebound like Tesla.

I got very excited there for a few weeks, seeing the TSLA share price plummet after Elon did his "Roman Salute". Looked like the 99% were making some systemic changes. Not so. 😢
