Importing LNG is a path to a greater impact on the climate and much more expensive electricity. As well as establising a system that promotes new solar, batteries & other renewables, NZ needs invest more in energy efficiency and other measures to reduce electricity demand. #noneedforfossilgas

Over the last 30 years many orange roughy spawning areas have been wiped out due to over-fishing & the impact of bottom trawling. There are now examples where spawning only occurs in areas protected from bottom trawling or with little current fishing. Seamounts & other feature deserve protection.

Fast Track provisions avoids wider public scrutiny, open hearings, and normal processes to check scientific evidence. Once submissions are in the Panel can decide to hold hearings but its optional under Fast Track law & Ministers are now suggesting to further reducing scrutiny. #endthefasttrack

Climate action is multi-generational and needs to occur across many Governments. Pulling the plug on action just builds up costs for future governments and future generations. The future deserves more from this Government than ending climate action. #climateaction
