Our Bush Sunflowers are in the Sunflower Garden that is bordered by a twig wall (on one side) and log wall (on another). This year it cascaded over the twig wall (as seen on the photos) like a waterfall of yellow flowers.

As in, we both get a surprise of a lifetime when we see each other. The skunk proceeds to spray me and runs under the office. I end up smelling rather unpleasantly. Good news is I have perfected the de-skunking process.

Lindheimer or Big Muhly (Muhlenbergia lindheimeri) is stunning at this time of year. It is a must-have for fall interest. But if you don't have space for it, Pine Muhly (Muhlenbergia dubia) gives a similar vibe at much smaller size.

Not only does Fall Aster delight us with its blooms, but it is also a very valuable plant in any garden. It attracts butterflies, native bees and beneficial insects. It is easy to grow and not fussy about soil as long as it has good drainage.
